Glenn Michael Farnet, Jr. (“Mike”) was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on January 29, 1993, and passed peacefully into our Lord’s hands on Sunday, January 4, 2026, surrounded by his family. Mike is the beloved son of Glenn and Christine Farnet; a loving brother to Emily McAlister (Andrew), Jonathan Farnet, and Mary Elise Farnet; an adoring uncle to his three beautiful nieces, Amelia, Eloise, and Lucy McAlister; and the fiancé of his beloved Ashley Kumler. Mike was a dedicated and trusted Respiratory Therapist at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, providing exceptional care and support to patients throughout the hospital and most frequently in the Emergency Room and Trauma Center. Mike graduated from The Runnels School in 2011 and Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (“FranU”) in 2022, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and was the recipient of the Academic Excellence award.
After having first met in high school, Ashley and Mike met again as co-workers at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. They fell in love and were formally engaged this past Christmas Eve. They are truly a “match made in heaven.” They were looking forward to being joined in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on June 20, 2026.
Mike loved the outdoors, having lived in the mountains of Colorado for several years where he enjoyed hiking, backpacking, and snow skiing. Prior to that, he was active in Scouting with Troop 136 at St. George earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Mike most loved simply “hanging out” and spending time with his family and friends.
Michael was a parishioner of St. George Catholic Church, and his Catholic faith carried him throughout his life, in tough times and in good times.
Michael was blessed to have had a peaceful death surrounded by his family with literally hundreds of friends, co-workers, ACTS brothers and sisters, St. George parishioners, and countless others throughout the country and beyond praying for him. Mike peacefully passed at 3:45 p.m. – in the hour of Divine Mercy.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mike will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Paul Gros celebrating and Fr. Akhilesh Antony concelebrating, a visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, chaplains, and staff of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, who provided exceptional and compassionate care for Mike. The family would also like to thank all who offered their prayers, rosaries, chaplets, Masses, holy hours, sacrifices, and meals and support during Mike’s entire hospital stay and after. The family especially thanks Fr. Paul Yi and all the clergy and staff of St. George Church for their emotional and spiritual support.
Jesus, I trust in you!
