Gordon Derouen

Gordon Ray “Gordy” DeRouen, age 73, passed away on July 20, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Karen Lucille Labbe DeRouen. Son of the late Gordon Joseph and Verda Rey Case DeRouen, he was born in New Iberia on March 30, 1949.

He graduated from New Iberia Senior High School and received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Before graduating college, Gordon served several years in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot. Later, he completed his Masters in Business Administration at Louisiana State University. Just as Gordon thrived in school and further education, he also enjoyed a successful professional career that took him to many places.

He enjoyed spending time with family and close friends especially from behind a stove or next to a smoking pit. Gordon was a dependable father who faithfully cheered on his girls through every endeavor. Gordy loved to spoil his grandkids with their favorite treats and usher them around to activities.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters; Amanda Paige DeRouen, and Lauren DeRouen Persac with her husband Tanner Persac; and grandchildren; Riley Anthony Polito, Maddie Rae Polito, Turner Ryan Persac, and Casen Ray Persac.

A private graveside service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022, at St. George Catholic Church.
