Gordon Averyt Murrill passed away peacefully in his own home on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the age of 92. A native of Mobile, Alabama, he graduated Murphy High School and left to work in New Orleans shortly after. Gordon worked as a Structural Draftsman in Louisiana and Texas for over 50 years. He was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He enjoyed fishing, playing the slot machines and spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 68 years, Ivy Mae (Martinez) Murrill, daughters Kim Stirling (Lee) of Mobile, AL, Sheila Goos of Bad Windsheim, Germany and son Gordon Murrill (Katie) of Baton Rouge. He will be missed by his five Grandchildren: Patrick Murrill (Megan) of Prairieville, Christian and Jessica Stirling of Auburn, AL, Katherina Goos of Fürth, Germany and Mason Olinde of Baton Rouge and one Great-grandchild: Averyt Murrill. He is survived by his brothers Melvin Murrill (Margaret) and Paul Colis Murrill (Ivan) all of Mobile, AL, numerous Sisters and Brothers-in-Law and fifty nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Mildred and George Murrill, his sister Barbara Jean Garriz and two brothers: Michael Murrill and George Murrill (Ann). Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home at 11817 Jefferson Highway on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery, 7808 St. George Way off Siegen Lane. Pallbearers will be some of Gordon's beloved nephews. The family wishes to thank Hospice in His Care of Baton Rouge for their thoughtfulness. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Red Cross.
