Gwendlyn Templet

April 11, 1941 — October 9, 2022

Gwendlyn Gaye Goings Parrott Templet, 81, of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 9th, in her home surrounded by love and family.  She was born April 11th, 1941, in Bogalusa, La. and resided in Baton Rouge since 1969.

She attended Bogalusa High School and was a Drum Majorette there.

Known to most as “Granny”, she was a true family matriarch and the cornerstone of her family.  “Family” meant everything to her, and it was her will that we all knew the power of love and happiness.  Huge family gatherings for holidays, making gumbo, crawfish & crab boils or BBQ-ing around the pool were her favorite times.  When Granny threw a party, everybody came.  She loved life, good food, music and dancing that Jitterbug.  She was small but mighty with an amazing power of determination and always with a belief that troubles in life would get better.

She is survived by her Husband of 41 years Micheal Joseph “Mike”/”PawPaw” Templet; her children, Son, Timothy Wade Parrott & Wife Margie, Daughter, Kimberly Jean Parrott Daigle and Husband Joe, Son, Kerry Dewayne Parrott, Daughter, Sherri Templet Jagot, Daughter, Paige Raleigh and Husband Coleman, Step-Daughter, Lisa Templet Renfrew and Wife Staz, Step-Daughter, Yvette Templet Cormier and Husband Scott, Brother, Hardy A. “Butch” Goings, Sister, Jeanne Goings Smith and Husband Reggie; 18 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews

She is preceded in death by her parents, H. A. Goings and Evelyn Smith Goings of Bogalusa; her brother James Louis “Jim” Goings; her son Terrence Bruce Parrott; her grandchildren Chance Parrott, Andrew Jagot and Breanna Jagot; and her Ex-Husband Joel Wade Parrott of Bogalusa.

She was a mother first, always, and her unwavering dedication to her children was her purpose in life.  A true “Southern Belle”, she carried herself with family pride, beauty, grace and dignity.  Always putting on the happiest of smiles regardless of circumstance or personal sacrifice, and a fierce defender not to be challenged.

A self-taught typist and bookkeeper, she retired from Coca-Cola as Chief Payroll Accountant before becoming a full time Granny.

Her last message to her family, “Remember the good times”
