Gwen Kling Samson "Gwennie Girl"

Gwen Kling Samson, known to her family and friends as "Gwennie Girl", passed away on July 5, 2024. She was born on July 11, 1951, in Baton Rouge to Virgil and Isabell Kling. She dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home as a homemaker, where she poured her heart into caring for her family.

In her free time, Gwen found joy in spending quality time with her beloved family members and playing with her pets. Her kind spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Gwen is survived by her daughters, Lindsay Samson LeJeune (Josh) and Kristen Samson McManus (Chad); son, Christopher Ray Samson (Lisa); sister, Toni Kling Samson; 19 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Charles Ray Samson “Bootie”; her parents, Virgil Adam and Isabell Martinez Kling; daughters, Sharon Samson Bush and Mary Samson Ditcharo; brother-in-law, Wickliff Joseph Samson “Wick”; and grandson, Nicholas Dominic Ditcharo. 

Pallbearers will be Joey Samson, Michael Samson, Chris S. Samson, Josh LeJeune, Andrew Ditcharo, and Aiden McManus. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris R. Samson, Hagen Carter, and Dustin Samson. 

Services to honor and celebrate Gwen's life will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home at 11817 Jefferson Hwy, in Baton Rouge, LA on Friday, July 12, 2024. A Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Gayle Causey and Leslie Wayne Bryer for their help during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank the staff at Woman’s Hospital Cancer Center, and her doctors, Dr. Ozair and Dr. Wood for their unwavering support and dedication to her treatment.
