Hagen Kleinpeter

Hagen Kleinpeter passed away peacefully at home on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2022.  Hagen was born on May 14, 1924 in Baker, Louisiana.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Sybil Caston Kleinpeter, his parents, Louisa and Edward Kleinpeter and seven siblings.  His lone living sibling, Dorothy Gunby of Baton Rouge, will celebrate her 100 and first birthday on January 6, 2023.  Hagen is survived by his children, Karen Kleinpeter de Marché (David) and Devin Kleinpeter (Shawnda); grandchildren Suzanne Rolison, Korey Kleinpeter, Carrie Tyman, Jacques de Marché, and Kristen Duét and great grandchildren Cadence and Molly-Kate Rolison, Kade and Madelyn Kleinpeter, Hagen, Caston, and Ada Tyman, Camille, Dani, and Rowan Duét, and David de Marché.

Hagen served in WWII and upon his return worked for Marchant Calculators for many years. He retired from AAA Business Machines in the late 70’s. During his retirement, he pursued many hobbies including gardening and working in the yard, restoring antique furniture, and creating wood pieces of his own design. Weekends were often filled with family BBQs of chicken and Sybil’s potato salad. Most early evenings would find Hagen and Sybil sipping a rum and coke and planning their next adventure. There was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his 11 great grandchildren. He would proudly proclaim that he had held each one of them and had a picture to prove it. Whole family gatherings were especially dear to him.

Hagen will be sorely missed by his family and friends.  Pallbearers include Korey Kleinpeter, Kade Kleinpeter, Jerome Duét, Jacques de Marché, Jerry Tyman, and Trey Rolison. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Thursday, January 5, from 6-8 pm and from 1:00-2:30 pm on Friday, January 6 with services beginning at 2:30. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
