Harry L. Hudson

Harry Leach Hudson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, will forever be remembered for his warmth, love, and sense of humor. He passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 71.

Born on October 7, 1954, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Harry was the son of the late Richard “Dick” H. Hudson and Margaret Leach Hudson. He graduated from Broadmoor High School and dedicated his career to the Baton Rouge Water Company until his retirement.

He found great joy in the simple things in life, especially time spent outdoors. He could often be found feeding the deer in his yard, mowing the grass, or tending to his pond. He took great pride in caring for the home and life he built with his wife, Carol.

More than anything, he loved his family. Carol was the great love of his life, and he loved her deeply and faithfully. He adored his children and grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them, even when they stole his ink pens and earned one of his unmistakable “Hudson huffs.”

He also had a wonderfully playful sense of humor. Those who knew him well may remember being caught off guard when he jumped out and greeted them with a booming “Big dog!” It was one of the many small ways he brought laughter to the people around him.

His life was built in these ordinary but meaningful moments. He never needed much to make life feel full, yet somehow, the lives around him were fuller because he was there. Those fortunate enough to have known him will understand just how extraordinary such a simple life can be.

Harry is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Carol Hudson; his daughters, Shelly Jones (Wesley) and Jill Hudson; his son, Dwight Hudson (Stacy); his grandchildren, Kalyn Gautreaux, Hank Jones, Sarah Hudson, Grace Hudson, and Tucker Gill; his sister, Martha “Marty” Ann Larkin (Thomas); and his brother, Richard “Rick” Hudson (Patricia).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard “Dick” H. Hudson and Margaret Leach Hudson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to The Crossing at Clarity Hospice and Cornerstone Flooring Companies for the care and support shown during this difficult time.

All who knew and loved Harry are invited to join the family in commemorating his life. A gathering will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge, on Friday, September 4, 2026, beginning at 1:30 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Harry’s memory with a donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge. Although Harry did not have Parkinson’s disease or cancer, both causes hold special meaning for our family, and we would be grateful for your support of those affected by these illnesses.
