Hazel Deloach

Hazel Gene Huffty Deloach passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the age of 90.  She is survived by her younger brother and his spouse, Billy Hufty (Lanelle), her three sons and daughters-in-law Arthur David Jr. and Sharin Deloach, Kenneth Deloach and Danna Adams, and Douglas and Patty Deloach. Seven grandchildren and their spouses, Brandy Hill, Lauren White (Jarred), Keith Deloach (Addie), Russ Deloach (Zoe Brown), Jacob Deloach, Mollye Russell (Cole), and Arthur David Deloach III.  Five great-grandchildren, Prentice Hill, Ripley White, Easton Deloach, Juliana Deloach, and June Russell.  She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Evelyn Hufty, and her husband Arthur David Deloach.

Hazel was born on March 1, 1933 in Kilbourne, Louisiana.  After graduating from Baton Rouge High School in 1951, she married Arthur David Deloach on March 22, 1952.  In 1965, she graduated with her Bachelor’s of Education from Northeast Louisiana State College and taught in the Monroe, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge school districts.  She was a prominent member of the Broadmoor United Methodist Church community and served as the Treasurer of the Lamplighters Sunday school class, regularly volunteered at the BUMC Food Pantry, sang with the choir, and regularly worked the reception desk at Holy Chow.  Hazel was a lieutenant and board member for the Krewe de Mystique and a member of the Red Hat Society.  Hazel was independent, accepting, and kind. She loved jewelry, scarves, and never met a pantsuit that didn’t look fabulous on her. Her trademark white hair was always perfectly styled. She will be loved and missed by all.  Visitation will be held at Broadmoor United Methodist Church on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. until Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com
