Hazel Estelle Levatino, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, will forever be remembered for her warmth, courage, and spirit. She passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born on May 25, 1942, in Amite, Louisiana, Hazel led a life full of purpose and dedication. She served her community as a sheriff deputy, a role that spoke to her strong sense of justice and compassion, before continuing her journey as a legal secretary. Hazel’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit touched the lives of those around her.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, Bennie L. Splain, Sr., and Annie Mae Fussell; her son, Michael J. Levatino; and brothers, Bennie Splain, Jr., and Charles Splain.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Burke (Patrick); sister, Carol Ann Inzinna; grandchildren, Jason Levatino, and Jeremy Levatino; great-grandchildren, Cason Levatino, and Ayda Levatino; and her beloved pets Tiny and Kobe.
The family would like to invite all who knew and loved Hazel to join them as we commemorate her life. A visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, from 12:30 pm until Memorial service’s officiated by Billy Maynard at 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s in Hazel's memory, honoring her spirit of giving and loving kindness.
