Hilario Gomez

January 21, 1936 — November 27, 2021

Hilario (Larry) Gomez, age 85, a native of San Perlita, Texas and a resident of Prairieville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family at his home.

He enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing his guitar and spending time with his family, friends and pets Ricky and Rosie. Larry was born in Santa Monica, Texas to Manuel Gomez and Refugia Sandoval. He attended San Perlita High School where he played clarinet for the band and was on the football team. He then served in the Airforce from 1955-1959 spending some of his time in Japan and was honorably discharged after serving as a warehouse specialist. He went on to work as a salesperson and business owner of Larry’s RV Service for many years.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Brenda Gomez; daughter, Teri Gomez (Mike Thomas); son, Larry “Danny” Gomez (Theresa); daughter, Tammy Deshotels (Brent); siblings, Jose Luis Gomez (Rosalinda), Eduvina G. Guerrero (Arnoldo), Guillermo “Willie” Gomez, Anita G. Wolfe and Manuel Gomez, Jr. (Mary); grandchildren, Amanda Abrams, Matthew Abrams, Jordan Gomez (Cynthia), Rachel Gomez, Landon Gomez (Jamie), Brian Bosarge (Briana), Blake Bosarge (Morgan), Tina Lennard (Ben), Alissa Thibault (Cole); and 23 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Sr. and Refugia Gomez; wife Emily Gomez; brother David Gomez; little sister Diamantina “Tina” Gomez; and brother-in-law, Tom Wolfe.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Resthaven Funeral Home from 5-7pm with speakers beginning at 7. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 11am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with burial following at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Pallbearers will be Teri Gomez, Matthew Abrams, Jordan Gomez, Landon Gomez, Blake Bosarge, Mike Thomas, Brent Deshotels, and Brian Bosarge.

Honorary pallbearers will be Arnoldo Guerrero and Terry Wolfe.

Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation or The American Kidney Fund.
