Jack Lloyd Winston, Jr.

Jack Lloyd Winston, Jr., a native and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the age of 81.   He worked as a 1^st class certified mechanic for 42 years, where he retired from Gulf States Utility Company in 2004.  He was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church since its inception in 1979. His faith and dedication to the need for the establishment of MBS led he and Diana to assist in the fundraising for the church and the school, even before the foundations were poured. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, puzzles, reading, spending time with family and friends, and faithfully watched daily Mass.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack L. Winston, Sr. and Gretchen Kershaw Winston; brother, Roy “Moonie” Winston; and in-laws, Nickie Maggio (Carolyn), Butch Stegall, and Betty Winston.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Diana Winston; children, Jacqueline Venable (Ronnie), Jeffrey Winston (Connie), Jason Winston (Johnnie), Jill Cowart (Tyson); 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ann Winston Stegall and Newton “Tootsie” Winston; and brother-in-law, Michael Maggio (Emma).

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in memory of Jack Lloyd Winston, Jr. to Hospice of Baton Rouge.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic on Saturday, May 25^th, 2024, at 12:00 PM. A Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM.

Pallbearers will be Jarred Southerland, Brandon Winston, Kyle Winston, Dylan Winston, Tyson Cowart, Collin Cowart, Charles Naquin, and Hunter Ballard. Scout Breaux will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
