James Walters

James “Jim” Donald Walters, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed from this life into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 27, 2021. Born February 27, 1935, in Campti, Louisiana, he was the son of William “Preacher” Walters and Mercelle Lestage Walters. Upon graduating from high school, when he swore he would never milk another cow, Jim attended technical school where he was trained and worked in the field of radiology for multiple years. After retiring in 1993 from the Baton Rouge General Hospital as Director of Radiology, he began a new career as a grandfather which he thoroughly embraced. Married for 63 years to the love of his life, Barbara Ann “Annie,” they began their journey as loving grandparents which included multiple cross-country trips, shopping trips to the mall, and spending too many nights to count with grandchildren at Annie and PawPaw’s house.

Jim is survived by son, James Michael Walters and wife, Stacie; daughter-in-law, Charlene Terninko Walters; siblings, Randall Walters and wife Beth, and Elaine Walters Talbot; and grandchildren, Lauren Walters Lawton and husband, Hunter; Aubrie Josephine Walters, Avery McKenna Walters, and Tegan Celeste Walters. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Cobb Walters; sons, Donald Barry Walters and Patrick Brian Walters; grandson, Ethan Patrick Walters; and sister, Sue Jean Walters Morgan.

While he will be greatly missed by those of us he left behind, we rejoice knowing he is with Barbara, Barry, Patrick and Ethan.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
