James Robert “Bobby” Slay Jr., a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the age of 67. He was born on March 3, 1958, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Louisiana State University and worked as a Senior Vice president of Sales at H&E and Waukesha-Pearce Industries (WPI).
Bobby was a man of many passions, including his LSU Tigers, music, and gardening. But above all, Bobby cherished his family, he adored being a grandfather, and held a special place in his heart for his dogs Dapper and Snapper.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Robert Slay Sr., and Theresa Fedyk Slay; and brother-in-law, Zane Zeno.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Kimberly Slay; daughters, Amanda Kaltakdjian (Serop), Brittani Thompson, and Tiffani Mistretta; son, Austin Thompson (Shannon); sister, Cindy Slay Zeno; brother, Chris Slay (Cindy); grandchildren, Eva Kaltakdjian, Ana Kaltakdjian, Brees Thompson, Tatum Thompson, Cali Martin, Wesson Sanders, and Jayda and Blane Dibendetto; Nieces; Katelyn Slay Dedman, Stephanie Slay, and Christie Slay; and numerous friends and family members, including Henri Guertin.
The family would like to give special thanks to Bobby’s friends and colleagues at H&E Equipment Services, where his legacy started, and Waukesha-Pearce Industries, where his legacy continued.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. until Memorial Services at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in honor of James “Bobby” Slay Jr., to St. Jude and Wounded Warriors, organizations in which are close to his heart.
