Janet LeDoux Jenkins

April 26, 1951 — March 13, 2026

Janet LeDoux Jenkins, 74, of Baton Rouge, affectionately known as “Grammy,” passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Born on April 26, 1951, in Eunice, Louisiana, Janet was the daughter of Mary Cormier LeDoux and Leroy LeDoux. She was the only girl and dearly cherished her two brothers.

She was a proud graduate of Eunice High School, Class of 1969, and earned both her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and her master’s degree from Louisiana State University. As a kindergarten teacher for more than 30 years, Janet dedicated her life to positively influencing and shaping the minds of countless children with patience, wit, and love. While teaching, she fatefully met her future husband, Larry, when he came to pick up his nephew, Chad, from her classroom. She was beloved by her students, their parents, and fellow educators. Before retiring, she spent her final three years serving as the school librarian. She had a lifelong love of reading and antiques.

Janet was a devout Catholic and a member of St. George Catholic Church. She taught CCD classes and was a reader at Mass for many years. In recent years, she found great peace in participating in her rosary group. Her greatest joy was her two beautiful grandchildren, Jayce and James. Janet also delighted in growing and sharing her many varieties of zinnias each spring.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Larry Jenkins; two sons, Travis Jenkins and wife, Erika, of St. Gabriel, and Jonathan Jenkins of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Jayce Jenkins and James Jenkins; her brother, Roger LeDoux and wife, Connie, of Washington; and sisters-in-law, Debbie LeDoux of Eunice and Vickie Hawkins and husband, Andy, of McAllen, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Leroy LeDoux; and her brother, Timmy LeDoux.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to primary care physician Dr. Susan Richarme for her devoted care for over 30 years, and to the compassionate staff of The Carpenter House of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
