Dr. Jerome A. Planchard, Jr.

Dr. Jerome Adrian Planchard, Jr., a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the age of 88.

After receiving his PhD from Tulane University in Chemical Engineering, he worked as a professor of chemical engineering at LSU. After teaching, he had a long career as a chemical engineer and biostatistician for pharmaceutical companies in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a proud member of Community Bible Church. He loved history, tennis, chess, and reading.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Ray, the mother of David, Robert, and Steven; his wife of 32 years, JoAnn Planchard; son, Robert Planchard; parents, Jerome Adrian Planchard, Sr. and Clara McFaull Planchard; daughter-in-law, Margot Planchard; and sister-in-law, Nancy Planchard.

He is survived by his children, David Planchard (Lori) of Baton Rouge and Steven Planchard of New York, NY; grandchildren, Natalie Miller (Ryan), Dr. Kyle Planchard (Blaire), Sean Planchard, Dr. Ry Planchard, and Kipp Planchard; great-grandchildren, Nathanial Miller, Gabriel Miller, Hannah Beth Miller, Elisha Miller, Charlotte Planchard, Grace Planchard, and Ellie Planchard; his brother, Dr. Thomas Planchard (Irene) of Shreveport, LA; his wife of 10 years, Geralyn Umbaugh, and her daughter, Sheri.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until Funeral Services are held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
