Charlie Pettiss, age 76, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on May 7, 2023. He was born on September 7, 1946.

Charlie was a high-achieving student who attended Woodlawn High School and Louisiana State University. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 – 1971 and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Rifle Marksman Badge, and the honor of USMC Outstanding Marine of the Year in 1970. He was a Purchasing Agent at The Newtron Group for 39 years. Charlie was a skilled hunter and fisherman and an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing the bounty of his crops with family and friends. He loved sports and spent many years coaching his children and their teammates.

Charlie is survived by his daughters, Kelly Pettiss Ibe (Shaun), and Jenny Pettiss Kurz (Adam); son, Stephen Pettiss (Cindy); sister, Mary Lynn Jackson; grandchildren, Charlie B. Pettiss, Ashlyn Pettiss, Brianna Coyle (Shae), Annissa Ibe, Anna Kurz, and Ryan Kurz; brother-in-law, Carey Jackson; nephew, Daniel Jackson; aunt, Katie Nell Morgan; uncle, Walter Pettiss; and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Ann Pettiss.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Lynn Pettiss and Mary Helen Bond Pettiss; and son, Ryan Charles Pettiss.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the numerous caretakers who extended compassion and patience to Charlie, including Autumn, Yolanda, Jackie, and the team at Cypress Home Health, Blandon with MedCentris, Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge, and Terri and V.

A private graveside service took place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
