Jimmy Lamy

October 30, 1932 — April 16, 2021

The incomparable Jimmy Lamy entered eternal life on Friday, April 16, 2021. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Jimmy was born in Donaldsonville on Oct. 30, 1932 to James and Grace LeBlanc Truxillo. She grew up in Thibodaux and spent all of her adult life in Baton Rouge. While working as a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Studio, she met her beloved husband, and they spent 35 years dancing and raising a family until his untimely death.

She was a school bus driver for many years and has been an active member of St. George Catholic Church since 1954. She served in a variety of ministries, most notably as the long-time face of St. Vincent de Paul. She lived a life of service to God, her family, and all those in need. She had a way of making everyone feel special.  As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (“Memere”), sister, aunt, and friend, this extraordinary woman made each one feel like they were her favorite.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward T. Lamy, Jr., her brother, Roy Truxillo, 6 of her brothers- and sisters-in-law, and her grandsons, Adam Puckett, and Sean Dawson.

She is survived by her 9 children, Cynthia (Steve) Losavio, Karen (Don) Puckett, Lisa (David) Dawson, Allyson Lamy, Eddie (Janice) Lamy, III, Eileen (Paul) Stradley, Laura (Abel) Machado, James (Julie) Lamy, and Celeste (Mike) Thornhill. She is also survived by her sisters, Grace Gary, and Maria (Billy) Prochaska, brothers-in-law Mike (Helen) Lamy, and Stephen (Susan) Lamy, her sisters-in-law, Esther Truxillo, Janet LeJeune, and Caroline Lamy; her 30 grandchildren and 37 (and counting) great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews
