Joanne Leblanc

April 29, 1937 — April 16, 2021

LeBlanc, Joanne Daigle

A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she died Friday, April 16, 2021 at the age of 83 surrounded by her family.  Joanne Marie Daigle was the 10th child of Jules Joseph and Regina Nola Aucoin Daigle, born April 29,1937 at their home in Plaquemine, Louisiana on her parents’ 24th wedding anniversary.  Her mama Nola was 46 years old at the time of Joanne’s birth and her oldest brother Abel named her.

She is a graduate of St. John High School Class of 1955 where she was St John’s first ever homecoming queen.  Joanne & Earl were married August 30, 1958 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic church in Plaquemine and as proud grandparents walked down that same aisle hand and hand for granddaughter Jenea & Bobby’s wedding October 27, 2017. Joanne was such a wonderful person, humble, sweet, kind mama, grandmother and great grandmother.  She loved beautiful flowers and had that magical green thumb to keep them alive.  Joanne dedicated 50 years volunteer service to Saint Thomas Catholic Church by singing in the Resurrection choir, loved cleaning the Adoration chapel, like her mama before her, plus taking her prayer hour turn each week with Earl, and attending masses each week.  She was always so proud of, and never missed attending grandparents functions for the grandkids she loved so much.  She was a member of several historical societies & the Baton Rouge Music Club.  Joanne and Earl attended the “Tea Dance” sponsored by BREC every Tuesday from 12 to 3 pm for many years. Those two of course didn’t miss a beat!

As his beloved wife of over 62 wonderful years she is survived by her husband Earl, inseparable partners in dance, and in life.

She is also survived by four children and their spouses Nola (Stan Labat), Joanie (Donald Haigler), Amy (Arthur Fontenot) & Earl Thomas Jr. “Tommy” (Tabitha), grandchildren Jenea (Bobby) Hastings, Jae Labat, Jules Haigler, Jesse Haigler, Emily (Nathan) Gilbert, Sarah (Dustin) Frederick, Amanda Fontenot, & Dovie LeBlanc, in addition two great grandchildren Hadley Hastings & Ben Gilbert, sister-in-laws Marlene Messina, Lenora LeBlanc, Frankie LeBlanc, & Corrine Daigle.

Joanne was preceded in death by siblings and their spouses Theresa (John) Businelle, Abel (Janette) Daigle, Edward (Gertrude) Daigle, Jean Isabelle “Lee Lee” (Earl) Rivet (Eldon “Tody”) Allain, Emily “Cookie” (Millard) Allain, Phillip Daigle (infant), Mary Lee (Anthony) Culotta Sr., Bruce Daigle, Nolan (Margaret “Deeda”) Daigle.

Joanne loved all of her & Earls’ nieces and nephews so much also.  Joanne, also known as Gram, Mama, and Aunt Jo is now our angel in heaven.
