John M. Pearson Sr.

John M. Pearson Sr. passed away on August 19, 2026, just shy of his birthday on August 24, 2026. He was born in Baton Rouge on August 24, 1948. He was the last of twelve kids born to Clem Pearson Sr and Vivian Pearson. The Pearson Family was such a big family that at the time of his birth he was already a Uncle.

He dropped out of Istrouma High School to join the United States Army in September of 1965. He worked on the Nike Hercules missiles during his stint in the Army. While stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas he met the love of his life Judith Wade Pearson in Platte City, Missouri. John and Judith did spend approximately a year in Germany after they were married. Once he separated from the Army, he worked at Trans World Airlines in Kansas City and ended up having their first son John M. Pearson Jr. Shortly after they moved back to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he worked at local supermarkets while studying for the Exxon. After passing the Exxon hiring test and process, he began his lifelong career with the company. He had two more sons: Christopher and David Pearson. He was a good husband, father, and sibling. He taught us and I quote “the world does not care if you eat” and “nobody owes you anything”. Always taught us to work hard and earn everything that we get. He was a devoted Husband of 43 years, staying by our mother’s side through her battle with cancer until she finally passed on February 7, 2011.

He enjoyed his property in Pine Grove Louisiana where he moved after his house had flooded in Watson, Louisiana. He enjoyed metal detecting which he did with some of his coworkers/friends. And good gracious, did he love to look at junk!! He called them antiques; we called it junk. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. The thing I think he enjoyed the most was to work. Through all the paperwork that I have filled out lately for him and it asked about hobbies. Well, I honestly believe working was his biggest hobby. He loved working at ExxonMobil and he loved working around his house. I believe that has transitioned to his three sons as well.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clem Pearson Sr and Vivian Pearson. His sisters: Levinia Caston, Margaret Stevenson, Patsy Ford, Joyce Thompson, Norma Jean Ortlieb, Fabian Sue Daigle, and Birdie Lou Wilson. His brothers: Clem Pearson Jr. and Charles Pearson.

He is survived by his sons and spouses: John M Pearson Jr, wife Brandy with a Y Pearson, Christopher Pearson, wife Brandi with an I Pearson, and David Pearson. His grandchildren: Sadie Pearson Grimsley, Brenna Gallion, Charity Pearson, Brandon Pearson, Lana Pearson, Ava Pearson, John Robert Pearson, Eliana Pearson and Rylie Pearson. His sisters: Sandra Zachary and Darlene Tolar. Also included is a whole mess of nieces, nephews and their children. It’s a big family!

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 4:00-7:00pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Saturday, august 29, 2026 from 9:00-10:00am, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Friends and Family are invited to a reception at the funeral home following the burial.

We would like to thank all the family members and friends who visited with him and called and spoke with him during the last few years. He enjoyed visiting each of you whether it was on the phone or in person. He loved each and every one of you! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
