In his home surrounded by his wife and two sons, John D. Rayborn, Jr. passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the age of 88.
A resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, John was born on May 11, 1937, in Lewisville, Arkansas. John graduated from Louisiana State University, where he was also in the Tiger Marching Band and a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. John was a longtime State Farm Claims Superintendent. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. John found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially cheering on LSU football and spending time with his family at the beach. After retirement, he and Mary traveled the world and made new friends along the way. He was a faithful member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Baton Rouge.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Tinnin Rayborn of Shreveport; sons, Jack (Melissa) Rayborn of Orange Beach, Alabama, and Michael Rayborn of Baton Rouge; cherished grandchildren, Brandon (Kristen) Rayborn of Orange Beach, Alabama, Chandler Rayborn of Foley, Alabama, Brooke Rayborn of San Diego, California, and Aiden Rayborn of Navarre Beach, Florida; great-grandsons, Colton Rayborn, Jackson Rayborn, Connor Rayborn, and Mason Rayborn.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate John’s life on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM with services beginning at 2:30 PM.
John will be remembered for his love of family, his warm spirit, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
