John Schneider, Jr.

December 2, 1949 — May 17, 2021

John D. Schneider, Jr., age 71, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on May 17, 2021.

John graduated from the University of Louisiana Lafayette, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and furthered his education by receiving his J.D. from LSU Law School.  Though an attorney by trade, John’s true joy was in participating in the revitalization of downtown Baton Rouge with his business partner Brace B. Godfrey Jr. Among other historical renovations, his pride and joy were the redevelopment of the Kress building and Hotel Indigo.  John was on the board of the Community Initiative Foundation and consultant for Preserve LA.

John is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Jacob and Chelsey Chapman, Justin Bauer and Meghan Bare; grandchildren, Audrey, Tyler, Madelyn, Nicholas, Evelyn and Emery; his siblings, Sherry, Karen, Kurt and Monica their spouses, and loving nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Schneider Sr and his mother, Juanita Agnes Schneider.

Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on May 23, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Initiative Foundation in Baton Rouge.
