Joseph “Joe” Angelo Mannino, a native of Independence, Louisiana, passed away on May 22, 2025, at the age of 87. Joe was a long-time resident of Baton Rouge and a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born September 11, 1937, Joe spent his childhood in Independence, Louisiana, where he met and married the love of his life, Margaret.
Joe was a family man, and Joe was happiest when he was with his family. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, especially when he played cards with them, joked with them, took them fishing, or helped them to make his special recipe of Italian sausage.
Joe was a devout Catholic man, who dedicated his time to St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and, more recently, to St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he served as a leader of the Knights of Columbus at the local and district levels. Joe served as Grand Knight of Council 9016 and always supported any activity relating to cooking. Joe was an expert at cooking gumbo, jambalaya, and fried fish and shared his talents with his Church community and family. Joe had a servant’s heart and enjoyed serving his Church, volunteering at the Bishop Ott Men’s Shelter, and helping out at St. Joseph’s Altars across the Diocese each March.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Mannino, his parents, Angelo and Mary Mannino, his daughter-in-law, Deborah Mannino, and all of his brothers and sisters. Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his five beloved children and their spouses: Sandra Mannino Fenn (Carl), Tommy Mannino (Sharon), Ronald Mannino (Lori), Ramona Mannino Fontenot (Wade), and JoAnn Mannino LaCombe (Brad); his 12 grandchildren: Michelle Newman (Will), Kristen Broussard (Lance), Courtney Giglia (Matt), Joshua Mannino (Cody), Justin Mannino (Katie), Devin LaCombe, Jeremy Mannino (Meagan), Brooke Fenn (Lauren), Caleb LaCombe (Madison), Seth LaCombe, Taylor Fontenot, and Noah Fontenot; and his 22 great-grandchildren.
