J. Murray Mitchell

Joseph Murray Mitchell, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the age of 87.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and respected by all.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  Murray spent his career working for ExxonMobil working as a Purchasing Agent.  He enjoyed golf, music, and movies.

Murray is survived by his children, Paul Mitchell and wife Kay, Craig Mitchell and wife Debbie, and John Mitchell and wife Penny; grandchildren, Derek, Thomas (Cachet), Cory, Alex (Angel), Katie, Jacob, and Jenna; 9 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Marian Robillard, Janet Messina and husband Wayne, and Larry Mitchell and his wife Annette.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Iris Mitchell; parents, Marion and Margaret Mitchell; and brother, Sonny Mitchell.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. until Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
