Joy Anselmo passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake due to heart failure at the age of 85. She was born on April 25, 1939, to Edward Gaspard and Bessie O’Quinn Gaspard of Carville, Louisiana.
Joy was a very kind person who gave her love and friendship fully and without reservation. She lived her life guided by the words and example of Jesus Christ and believed that “if you fill your heart with love, there is no room for fear”.
She will be missed by every person she touched in this life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Terry Lee Anselmo; great-granddaughter, Sadie Elizabeth Davila; and sister, Ann Graser.
She is survived by her son; Russell L. Anselmo and husband, Jason Spinner; her daughters, Tracy Elizabeth Ashley and husband, Randy Keith Ashley, and Christian Ann Anselmo; her grandchildren, Michael Israel Davila, Terry Lynn Ashley, and Haley Margret Anselmo; her great-grandchildren, Jazmine Rose and Haisleigh Grace; her niece, Jackie Ann Dantzler; and her nephew, Dwayne Hymel. Joy is also survived by her life partner, Edward Seay, who she lovingly called “Bud.”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1:30 p.m.
