Joyce Meredith

Joyce Dell Bateman Meredith was called to her heavenly home on September 14, 2021. She was born in Charleston, SC on April 25, 1929. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel D. Meredith; mother, Florence Maybell Scarborough Bateman; father, The Reverend E. D. Bateman; brother, Dr. E.D. Bateman, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Sarah Boteler Bateman, all from Baton Rouge. She is also preceded in death by numerous out-of-state brothers- and sisters-in-law from the Meredith family. She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses: Lynn Meredith Sykes and Vernon; Karen Meredith Soniat and Lyle; and Joel Meredith Fletcher and Paul. She took great pleasure in the lives of her grandchildren and their families: Ashley Sykes Shoemaker and Jeff; Neil Sykes and Megan; Lindsay Sykes; Meredith Soniat Willhite and Cody; Austin Fletcher and Kayla; Stephen Fletcher and Bonnie; and A.J. Fletcher. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Layne Sykes; Lucian Hoyt; Emma Sykes; Alivia Sykes; Wyatt Shoemaker; Garrett Shoemaker; Eli Willhite; and Thomas Fletcher. Per her request, private graveside services will be held for the family at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, on Monday, September 20, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. She walked in faith each day with the Lord.
