Judith Salassi Musso, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024, at the age of 85. Judy was born October 24, 1938, to parents Hugh Charles Salassi and Dorothy Cole Salassi. She was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School where she met her future husband, John Ray Musso. They were married for 66 years and enjoyed countless adventures ranging from horseback riding, snow skiing, fishing, camping, motorcycle riding, and floating in False River. Judy’s Claim to Fame was her outstanding talent for cooking, which she passed down to her three sons and all her grandchildren. Sunday dinners with family were her most treasured times. Judy’s simple, free spirited attitude and charismatic smile will be truly missed and lovingly remembered.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John Ray Musso; sons, Donald Musso and wife, Margaret, Richard Musso and wife, Cynthia, Christopher Musso and wife Ginger, all of Baton Rouge; her 8 grandchildren; Doug Musso (Danielle), Marie Saloom (Steve), John Musso, Katie Musso (Brittany), Lauren Musso, Kelli Musso Jennings, Rachel Loupe (Tyler), and Megan Kabbani (Abdul); 9 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dot Salassi; brothers-in-law, Jerril Musso and wife, Margaret, and Charles Musso and wife, Ree; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Dan Salassi.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. in Baton Rouge on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. The Funeral Service will begin at 11am and will be officiated by Pastor Greg Beatty. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
