Julia Bariola Fields, 54, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, became a butterfly joining her mother and father on May 11, 2025, due to injuries suffered in a tragic accident. She was born on July 20, 1970, in Lake Providence, to the late Julius and Janice Combs Bariola.
She was born and raised in Lake Providence, Louisiana. She attended Saint Patrick School and graduated valedictorian from Briarfield Academy. She attended LSU for two years until her career calling brought her to nursing school at Northeast Louisiana University.
While she was studying nursing, Julia met her loving husband, Ronnie. They married less than 2 months after her nursing school graduation and spent the next 30 years together. She was his “Babydoll,” “Princess” and his “Happily ever after.”
Julia was a devout Catholic parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Church. She dedicated her life to caring for others beginning with her career in nursing and then becoming a devoted mother to her two sons, Adam and Alex, who were her pride and joy. She was a second mother to her nieces and nephews as well. She was a caring listener, counselor and advocate for her family and many friends.
Julia’s passions included cheering on her LSU Tigers any chance she got in any sport, traveling as much as she could, Walking with Purpose Bible Study, Bengal Belles, avid gardening, baking for her family and friends and regular dining at City Cafe- Where Good Friends Meet. Her Christmas “trash” treats will be missed by many.
Her warm smile, compassionate nature, and unwavering support for her family and friends left a huge impact on all who knew her. Julia loved her people fiercely and never met a stranger.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Ronald Fields; two sons, Adam and Alex Fields; brothers, Stephen Bariola (Judie) and Philip Bariola (Dara); several loving in-laws; Thomas Fields III (Tamara); Erin Shaffett; Leazel McDonald (Scott); Lottie Ross (Ken); nieces, Andrea Polk (Alan), Gennie Cook (Kendall), Mary Philip Bariola, Tara Fields, Cammie Shaffet, McKenzie McDonald-Christensen (Andrew), and Savannah Ross; nephews, Brantley Bariola, Thomas Fields IV (Mary Chris), Tucker McDonald, Noah Ross; great nieces and nephews, Avaley and Ainsley Polk, Isaac and Iverson Cook, Isaac Bennett, and Loxlee Shaffett.
