Julia Brumfield Nesbit Peters, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, went into the house of the Lord Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 4:44pm at the age of 87. Julia was born in Centreville, Mississippi on October 31, 1937, daughter of the late John P. Brumfield and Lucille Koen Brumfield. Julia’s life was one of purpose and passion. After graduating from Baton Rouge High School, she was dedicated to raising her five children and later a career as an agent in real estate. Julia was actively involved in her community, serving as a member of the Board of Real Estate Brokers, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Krewe of Iduna. Her generosity extended to her volunteer work with the BR Eye Bank Auxiliary, demonstrating her deep care for others.
A passionate lover of the outdoors, Julia enjoyed hunting and fishing and took immense pleasure in traveling to new destinations. Her exceptional culinary skills delighted family and friends alike, while her talent as a pianist filled many gatherings with joy. Above all, Julia cherished the time spent with family, imparting life lessons of advice, of kindness and resilience to her beloved family. Julia loved unconditionally.
Julia is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Lewis C. Peters; parents, John and Lucille Brumfield; and son-in-law, Daniel “Dan” C. Bogan.
She is survived by her children, Lisa Bostick (Bill), W. David Nesbit (Jackie), J. Kevin Nesbit (Sandy), and J. Keith Nesbit, Julia (Jan) Bogan-Amos (Alan); grandchildren, Kathryn Bostick (Brett), Robert Bostick (Kolby), Jon Bostick (Maria), Jennifer Bohler (Kyle), Julia Johnson (Justin), Blake McNiece (Caitlin), Alex Nesbit (Macy), Amy Nesbit, Daniel Bogan (Erin), and Laura Bogan (Levi); and step-children, Glen Peters (Allison), Mary Fuller (Roger), Warren Peters (Barbara), and Carol Bourgois, and seven great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to, Chelsea Young, The Carpenter House and Garden View Assisted Living for their compassionate staff and care. In honoring Julia’s memory, we invite all who knew and loved her to join the family for a visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, located at 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visiting hours will continue the following day, June 26, from 9:00 AM until the funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM, conducted by Chaplain Chester Readus. Graveside services will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
