Kathleen Snyder, a resident of Denham Springs, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the age of 101.
Kathleen was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she met and married a GI and came to Baton Rouge in 1946 through Ellis Island, New York. She had two children and was widowed in 1962. She then went into the nursing profession first working several years for a private practice doctor then at Our Lady of The Lake Downtown and at Earl K. Long hospital from which she retired. After retirement she worked part time at Stanocola Medical Clinic. She remarried and was widowed a second time in 1972. She had a very strong Catholic faith and was a founding member of St. Pius X Parish in Baton Rouge and a Eucharistic Lay Minister and later a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Denham Springs. She was a member of numerous clubs and organizations and advocated higher education for nurses.
Kathleen loved to dance and could be seen on the dance floor into her late 90's. She also enjoyed reading and traveling.
Kathleen is survived by a daughter and son in law, Diane and Barry Duplessis; grandchildren, Darin and wife Vicky Brasseaux; Kevin and wife Kandi Brasseaux, Robin and husband Ronnie Ogg, Kerry Duplessis, and D'ann Ford. Great grandchildren; Beaux Brasseaux, Jaxin Winfrey, and Odin Ogg.
Preceded in death by husband, Nolan Salita, and husband Jim Snyder; daughter, Linda Williams; parents, William and Mary Moffett; sisters, Lily Holden, Essie Garland, and Bridgette Mccollough; and brother, John, a Trappiest Monk.
Visitation will take place at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739, on Friday, August 19, 2022 beginning at 11:30 AM until mass at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Per Kathleen's wishes, in lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and St. Vincent de Paul Dining and Pharmacy.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Hospice in His Care for the love and care they offered Kathleen.
