Larry Don Reeves, 79, of Baton Rouge, La., died August 6, 2023, at Clarity Hospice. He was born in Lawton, OK, on December 5, 1943. He grew up in Baker, La, in a little house across the road from what would become the BR Zoo. Many childhood adventures took place in those woods. Larry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linnie Keller, and his children Jennifer Reeves Norris (Jason) and Spencer Latimer Reeves (Carrie), and the precious pups Rosie and Harrison. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 sisters and a brother. Linnie’s extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins were Larry’s family, too, and he loved them as his own. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Mildred Everett Reeves and Albun Andrew Reeves. Larry was a lifelong runner starting with sprints on the track teams of Baker High School and Southeastern La. University, where he was also a charter member of Theta Xi fraternity. Larry continued running on the roads of Baton Rouge and beyond in 5 and 10 Ks and he was most proud of having completed over 50 marathons. It brought Larry great joy when Jennifer became a runner, too. They even ran several 5 Ks together plus one half-marathon. Larry’s education included degrees from Southeastern, UNO and Loyola Law School. He used his education and compassion to work in Human Resource Management at Goudchaux’s, Home Health Management and Nursing Home Administration. Friends and family swooped in with so much love and kindness to care for both Larry and Linnie when it was needed the most. Words of thanks will never be enough. Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.
