Lawanda Fly

Lawanda Fly, resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born on January 3, 1933, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Charles and Anna Carmack.

Lawanda was a great cook and cooked for the youth at Winbourne Avenue Baptist Church. Her home was the place to go. She always made sure everyone felt welcome and had a meal to eat. Friends and family could always come over and watch shows together in the living room or sit around the kitchen table playing cards. She loved spending time with her grandchildren but also enjoyed having the adults over for “donut” night.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Schutzman; son, Larry Fly (Tammy); 9 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Fly; parents, Charles and Anna Carmack; John B. Sr. and Letha Fly; son-in-law, Michael Schutzman; and great-grandson, Owen Fly.

She will be greatly missed but we know she is now at peace and reunited with her husband.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
