Lenora “Pete” Peters Amedee, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at the age of 86. Lenora went to join her beloved husband, Louis Amedee, just hours after he departed this world, marking the end of a beautiful love story that spanned over 62 years.
Born on March 22, 1939, in Crowville, Louisiana, Lenora was the cherished daughter of the late Garland and Mable Wroten Peters. With a caring spirit and a strong desire to help others, she graduated from nursing school in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and devoted her life to serving as a registered nurse. Her compassion and dedication touched the lives of countless patients and their families throughout her career.
A lifetime member of Parkview Baptist Church, Lenora was a devout Christian whose faith guided her in every step of her life. Along with serving on the Parkview Baptist School Board, she was well known as “Nurse Pete” to the many children who were under her care as the long-time preschool nurse. She was known for her unwavering love and commitment to her family, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lenora is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Amedee; her parents, Garland and Mable Peters; and her brothers, Alan, Kenneth, Jerry “Reggie,” and James Peters.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelah Breland; her grandchildren, Courtney Odom (Chase), Hunter Breland, and Joseph Breland (Cristen); her great-grandchildren, Beau and Hattie Odom; as well as her sisters, Karen Beach (Ronald) and Lillian Andrews (Larry); and brothers, Gary Peters and Roy Peters; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family invites all who knew and loved Lenora and Louis to join them in commemorating their lives. A visitation will be held at Parkview Baptist Church, located at 11795 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, an organization that was dear to Lenora's heart. Your love and support during this difficult time are deeply appreciated, as we come together to celebrate the remarkable lives of Lenora and Louis Amedee.
