Leonard Mccaffery

Leonard J. "Lenny" McCaffery, Jr., died on September 16, 2018, age 76, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Lenny was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes, Jesuit High School, St. Joseph Benedictine Abbey and received masters at LSU/UNO. Lenny was a lifelong civil servant, his commitment to helping others through teaching, leading, and sharing his love for music and art made him an inspiration to his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Lenny is survived by his wife of 52 years, Annette Barton McCaffery (Baton Rouge, LA) and their two daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine McCaffery Galatas and Blane Galatas (Decatur, GA) and Jessica McCaffery Miller and Michael Miller (Baton Rouge, LA). Lenny is survived by his brother, Kenneth McCaffery (New Orleans, LA) and his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Kenneth Guidry (Austin, TX), and sisters-in-law, Beverly Barton (Mobile, AL), Susan Fox-Harris (San Antonio, TX) and Nancy McCaffery (Madisonville, LA). Leonard is survived by seven grandchildren, Leonard Joseph McCaffery, IV, Holden Galatas, Claire McCaffery, Edwin Galatas, Caelan Galatas, Anson McCaffery, and Sadie Miller.

Lenny was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Joseph McCaffery, Sr., and Shirley White McCaffery; his son, Leonard Joseph McCaffery, III; his brother, Michael McCaffery, and sister-in-law, Jean McCaffery.

Visitation will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 12:00 pm until funeral services at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area, http://alzbr.wpengine.com/donate/ or Jesuit High School Living Endowment Fund.
