Leslie Stewart McCann, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on February 20, 1963, in Tokyo, Japan, Leslie was the beloved daughter of Henry and Fusako Stewart. At just two years old, she moved with her family to St. Tammany Parish, where they made their home in Lacombe, Louisiana—a place that always remained part of her story.
After graduating from Mandeville High School in 1981, Leslie moved to Baton Rouge, where she built a life centered on family, service, and care. She married and was blessed with two children, who became the heart of her world. Leslie pursued her calling in healthcare at Our Lady of the Lake College and was named valedictorian of her associate’s program in Surgical Technology in 1996—an achievement that reflected her determination, intelligence, and work ethic.
Leslie devoted her life to caring for others. Her career in healthcare was more than a profession; it was an extension of who she was. She showed strength and resilience throughout her life, always placing the needs of others before her own. Whether caring for patients, supporting friends, or loving her family, Leslie gave of herself fully and without hesitation.
Outside of work, Leslie found her greatest joy in time spent with those she loved. She is survived by her children, Molly McCann Lemieux and Kelley McCann; her cherished grandchildren, Grant Baldwin and Charlee Lemieux; her sisters, Patricia Stewart Boudreaux and Susan Stewart Johannsen; and her brothers, Johnny and Don Stewart. She was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren and treasured every moment shared with family and friends.
Leslie will be remembered for her contagious smile, her unmistakable laugh, and the genuine kindness she showed to everyone she met. Her presence brought comfort, warmth, and light, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown by friends and family, and a special thank you to the ICU team at Baton Rouge General for their compassion and dedication in caring for Leslie.
Please join her family in a tribute to celebrate her life on February 21, 2026 at The River Room located at 222 Laurel Street, Baton Rouge, La 70810 from 2-5pm.
