Virginia Gentile

Virginia Gentile left this world on November 20, 2023 to be with the Lord. She was born to a loving family in Iuka, Mississippi on March 26, 1932. Never meeting a stranger, Virginia was a friend to everyone she met. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family fiercely and they all adored her. Along with her husband, Pete, the couple provided foster care for several years through Catholic Charities. Virginia is survived by her children, Lori Gentile St. Germain (Bryan) of Baton Rouge and Gary Poindexter of Hot Springs, AR. She was the proud Nana to Lauren St. Germain, Megan St. Germain Ponseti (Clayton), Kyle Poindexter, Cole Poindexter, Dawson Poindexter and six great-grandchildren. As their oldest sister, she will be dearly missed by Quay, Joan, Margaret, Marie and Zoma. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Pete Gentile, her parents, Flaudie and Sturlon Alexander, and her siblings, Laura, Jackie, Buck and Martin. A rosary will be said in her memory at 8:00AM on Tuesday, November 28 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with a visitation from 8:30-10:00AM immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her memory or extend an act of kindness to a neighbor, friend or stranger. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Kevin and the entire Amedisys Hospice team, along with our angels on earth, Victoria Arthur, Lorraine Burns and Keeta Brown. Her independent and courageous attitude, kind heart and generous spirit will live on with us forever.
