Lora Kovacs

July 8, 1937 — November 7, 2022

Lora Ann Lormand Kovacs (85) passed away on November 7th, 2022 after battling lung cancer.  Lora was born on July 8th, 1937 to her parents, the late Pierre & Herminie Lormand in Arnaudville, LA.  She grew up alongside her two brothers & two sisters.

Lora's first language was French.  At the time, the French language was the main language, in the small village of Arnaudville.  Lora learned English from her older brother and older sister, since they attended school before she did.  Lora graduated from Arnaudville High in 1955.

Lora worked for years as a real estate agent.  She worked for Realty Mart and Dick Brien Real Estate.  Her last job from which she retired, was with the Dept. of Public Safety with the state of Louisiana.

Lora was well-traveled throughout her lifetime and lived in many different places all over the country including Alaska, California and Louisiana.

She is survived by her three daughters, Leslie Defeo (John) of Baton Rouge, LA;  Heidi Myers of Ft. Walton Beach, FL;  Jessica Rodriguez (Ricky) of Geismar, LA.  In addition to her children she is survived by her five grandchildren: Meagan Gunter, Katie Dore, Julian Myers, Carter & Emma Rodriguez; her five great-grandchildren: Layla, Conner, Luke, Olivia and Mia; her four nieces:  Tamie Guilliot, Julie Petty, Amy Gleason & Tressa Comeaux.   Her best friend for over forty years, Lorraine Nickens.

Her family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice and Jefferson Manor Nursing Home for caring for their mother for the past two months.  The kindness and caring that has been shown to her will always be remembered.  Also, her neighbors who treated her like family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pierre and Herminie Lormand, her husband, Elmer Alex Kovacs, and her brothers MG & Carroll Lormand, two sisters Theresa Guidry & Jane Guidry.

A memorial service for Lora will be held on Sunday, November 13th at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am until services at 1:30 pm, celebrated by Deacon Ken Soignier.
