Louis Amedee, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the age of 94. A proud veteran, Louis honorably served in the United States Navy before dedicating his professional life to public service as a procurement director for the State of Louisiana. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Boat Club where he began his announcing career.
He enjoyed traveling the country announcing many horse shows both large and small and gaining many friends along the way. His passion for horses led him to active membership in both the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association.
Louis is preceded in death by his brother, John Claude Amedee II “Wine”, and sister Laura Marie Amedee.
He was survived by his beloved wife, Lenora “Pete” Peters Amadee, who went to join her beloved husband, just hours after he departed this world, marking the end of a beautiful love story that spanned over 62 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelah Breland; grandchildren, Courtney Odom (Chase), Hunter Breland, and Joseph Breland (Cristen); his great-grandchildren, Beau and Hattie Odom as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family invites all who knew and loved Louis and Lenora to join them in commemorating their lives. A visitation will be held at Parkview Baptist Church, located at 11795 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Paint Horse Foundation, both organizations that were dear to Louis's heart. Your love and support during this difficult time are deeply appreciated, as we come together to celebrate the remarkable lives of Lenora and Louis Amedee
