Louis Brupbacher

January 10, 1945 — January 31, 2024

Louis Paul Brupbacher died peacefully at home on January 31, 2024 at the age of 79.  He attended St. Anthony Elementary, Catholic High School and LSU.  He was a devout Catholic. Louis was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and going to his camps. He was most proud of his one shot that killed 3 turkeys. He also was very proud of two state records that he holds for black and white sac-a-lait.  We will miss all the fish that we enjoyed as he fried them up for family and friends. On the last day of duck season one year he rescued a cat that had somehow appeared at the duck camp. He walked in the house with the black and white furball after a two hour boat ride out of the marsh. Sweetie Boy was the best prize of that hunting season and knew who saved him and he was Louie’s shadow.  Louie could fix anything that was broken. He could take a broken tool or appliance apart and put it back together like new. He never wanted to go buy a new one because he said the old ones were better. He had a long career in banking and retired from Baton Rouge Bank.  He worked at the Bank from the first day it opened until it changed ownership, and he was respected for his knowledge of banking and investments. He is survived by his wife JoAnn who lovingly took care of him through his long battle with Alzheimer’s, his daughter and son-in-law Michele and Don Mayeux, his granddaughter Paige Mayeux (Wes), and his cats Penny and Polly.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert C and Nannette Brupbacher, his brother, Robert C Brupbacher, III, and his in-laws, Woodrow and Marjorie Beard.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on February  8, 2024 at noon at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church officiated by Fr Todd Lloyd, with visitation from  11:00 to 12:00 and burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. The family wants to sincerely thank and send love to his caregiver Demetrius Jenkins.  Donations can be made in his memory to Alzheimer’s Services or to a charity of your choice. Rest in peace ‘Buster’ until we see you again. Your mind is whole. Watch over us. We love you.
