Louis Edward Dedon, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on August 23rd 2025.
Louis was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He attended Istrouma High School, International Bible College, UTSA, and graduated from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He did his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. He spent many years working as a psychiatrist mostly in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas. Hospitals he worked at include The Baton Rouge Mental Health Center, West Jefferson Hospital, and River Oaks Hospital. He also spent time working as the Deputy Coroner in East Baton Rouge Parish and working in shelters after Hurricane Katrina. While Louis was known as a quiet intellectual, he also had a wry sense of humor that he shared with his close friends and loved ones. Instead of long conversations, he preferred to spend quality time and share a plate of seafood with those he held close. He had a passion for fishing, or anything in the water, restoring sports cars, and enjoying the arts, especially in downtown New Orleans.
He will be missed by all, and especially his children; his daughter Amy Dedon (Zeth), his sons Chris Dedon (Zuly) and Louis Dedon Jr., the mother of his children Sandra Dedon, his sisters Margaret Dedon Cole and Hattie Reynolds, his brother Junius Grey Reynolds, and his grandson Jonathan Philip Dedon.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Dedon and Clara Mae Reynolds.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday August 30th from 1:30 PM until services at 3:00 PM.
