Louise Marie “Weezie” Drouilhet passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was 91 years old. Weezie was born August 3, 1934, in New Orleans to Raymond “Tiny” and Louise Bayhi Drouilhet. As the oldest child, she played a significant role in the lives of her five siblings.
At age 16, Weezie joined the congregation of the Marianites of Holy Cross, where she remained a nun for 25 years.
Upon moving to Chicago, she worked for AllState Insurance Company. During her time in Illinois, she met and fell in love with Joseph “Joe” a self-taught cab driver. They had ten years of an extremely happy marriage, until Joe passed in 2001.
Her passion for reading and education led her to receive her PhD in English. Weezie continued her work in education for many years, including spending time in communities throughout Baton Rouge teaching English as a second language, where she earned the love and respect of the many students she impacted. She enjoyed spending her time reading, watching crime shoes on television and completing crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph “Joe” Wesobski; her twin sisters, Joan and Marie; and her brother, Raymond. Weezie is survived by her sister, Teresa “Cookie” Drouilhet; her brother, Michael Drouilhet and his wife Kris; her sister-in-law, Yvonne “Cookie” Drouilhet; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.
The Drouilhet family extends their deep and sincere appreciation to Jessica Pickett and her family for the loving and professional care she provided to Weezie in the last months of her life.
