Lucille Guidry

Lucille T. “Tweetie” Caldwell Atkins Guidry, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 in the home she designed and built some 40 years ago.  She was a native of Opelousas, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge since 1967.

She graduated Valedictorian from Opelousas H.S. and later Phi Kappa Phi from LSU after raising eight children.  Ever organized, energized, and caring, she worked throughout her adult life until retirement from building and awning business ownership.

Born the only child of James Richard Caldwell and Marie Trosclair Caldwell, she was predeceased by her parents; first husband H.D. Atkins, second husband, Steve N. Guidry, Sr.; and son John Joseph Atkins.

She is survived by her family:  Dr. Richard Atkins (Judi), Thomas Guidry (Jutathip), Janice Guidry Purvis (Stewart), Steve “Guy” Guidry, Jr. (Betty Ann), Paul Guidry (Lisa), Pierre Guidry, and David Guidry, fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was a founding and active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a friend of Bill W. since 1992.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at St. Patrick, 12424 Brogdon Lane, Baton Rouge from 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory at 2:00 p.m.
