Mark Steven White

May 20, 1954 — November 26, 2025

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Mark Steven White passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the age of 71. He was born May 20, 1954, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the only son of Harry Hardy White and Emma Melancon White. A graduate of Istrouma High School, Mark entered law enforcement at 18. He retired after 30 years of dedicated service to the Baton Rouge Police Department, earning the rank of Captain. Mark was a member of the Baton Rouge Union of Police and a long-time parishioner at St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Linda Mitchell, Janet Larson and Deborah White; and his best friends, Ronnie and Kay Rabalais.

Mark is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Laura Tolivar White, whom he affectionately referred to still as ‘his bride’; their loving children and spouses, Adam and Nick White, Ben and Brittany White, and Lauren and Daniel Dupont; and their beloved grandchildren: Elijah, Madison, Noah, Parker, Peyton, Easton, Matthew and Emma Katherine; as well as numerous other family and friends.

The family would like to recognize Fidelis Residential Care Homes and Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassionate and professional care of Mark; we are forever grateful.

Mark was a self-educated man who thrived on knowledge. He knew something about everything, be it politics, religion, sports – the conversation would most definitely be met with a hearty debate – and he traditionally always came out on top, so much so that the family joke was when he got something wrong, as it was so rare, they would mark the day on the calendar.

His easygoing personality benefited countless traffic violators. Mark was always willing to give people a second chance, issuing more warnings than tickets. He was the life of the party and truly never met a stranger, that was never more evident than when the guest list kept increasing for Lauren’s wedding!

His family was the center of his world. Retirement gave him the opportunity to spend more time with his children as they grew. He enjoyed being able to volunteer at school, even taking roles in the cafeteria when he could. Mark was the foundation of his family, the love that he and Laura had for one another was evident to all that knew them. While there will never have been enough time, we will forever cherish the countless memories.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Avenue in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
