Marquetta Lively Kleinpeter

July 4, 1932 — May 5, 2026

Marquetta Ruth “Kitta” Lively Kleinpeter, born on July 4, 1932, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the age of 93.

Marquetta was born in Plaquemine, Louisiana. After completing high school, she went on to become a Clerk and retire from the East Baton City Parish Treasurer’s office after 25 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Zachary, LA, as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she had many friends.

Marquetta cherished the simple joys of life. Yellow roses were her favorite flower, and she found comfort in her daily reading of Reader’s Digest. She loved visiting family in Bayou Plaquemine, a place that always held a special place in her heart. A country girl at heart, she enjoyed fried fish, crawfish boils, and time spent outdoors. At home, she delighted in feeding the birds and squirrels, watching them from her windows. Above all, she was devoted to her family and rarely missed a birthday, celebration, or special event for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was also close with nieces and nephews.

Marquetta is survived by her daughter, Tara Kleinpeter David (Ronnie David); sons, John Ray Kleinpeter (Christine Baker Kleinpeter), and Terry Gene Kleinpeter; sisters, Edna Juanita Benoit and Nora Lee “Peaches” Davis (Hermon Leo Davis); grandchildren, Aimee Nicole David Cedotal (Mark Cedotal) and Holly David Taylor (Bradley Taylor); and great-grandchildren, Beau Taylor, Drew Coulon, Briana Taylor, Brynn Taylor, and Tully Cedotal.

She is preceded in death by her former husband of 16 years, Carl Raymond Kleinpeter; parents, Elden Ray Lively and Clotille Wiseman Lively; sister, Carmen Vivian Bergeron (Roy Joseph Bergeron); and brothers, Norman Ray Lively (Annie Marie Wascom) and Thomas Wallace Lively (Carmen White).

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Marquetta’s life on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Guests will be invited to share stories of their adventures with Kitta during the memorial service and join the family at the burial.
