A retired master carpenter and member of Local 1098, he died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, in Kentucky. He was 85, a resident of Baker and a native of Smithdale, Miss. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 16, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Tom Simmons. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Freddie W. and Terry Young and Thomas G. and Pam Young, all of Central City, and Martin S. and Cheryl Young Jr., Hot Springs Village, Ark.; sister, Leverne Barnes, Jackson, Miss.; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lillian Martin Young; wife, Luna M. Young, and four brothers.
