Mary Guillot

March 9, 1935 — February 26, 2021

Mary Lee Guillot, age 85, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on February 26, 2021 and into the joyful arms of her heavenly family.

Mary Lee was an independent, modern woman for her time.  A graduate of LSU, she had a fulfilling career as a teacher, both in private and public schools as well as teaching English to new immigrants.  She especially enjoyed her years of teaching young children in the Bayou.  She rose to the rank of Principal at Baton Rouge Magnet High School in the ‘80s.  She was active in her church and many civic and charitable organizations throughout her life.

Mary Lee was larger than life as she entertained people with her fabulous, funny, one-of-a-kind stories about her life’s adventures, many from her time teaching in the Bayou.  She had a dramatic style that was uniquely her own.  It was always a treat to be in her company, because there was always laughter.

Mary Lee is survived by her sister, Norma “Betsy” Roark, Altamonte Springs, FL, her nephew, Frank Roark (wife Angela Roark), Winter Park, FL, her nieces; Rebecca Wall (husband Toby Wall), Ormond Beach, FL, Holly Roark (husband Ira Gordon), Longwood, FL, Erin Roark (husband Steve Rinker), Cocoa, FL and many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Guillot and Norma Hill Guillot, Msgr. Leo Guillot, her brother and Sister Mildred Guillot CSJ, her sister.
