Mary Jane "Jeanie" Miley

April 14, 1941 — November 6, 2025

Port Allen, Louisiana

Mary Jane "Jeanie" Miley, a devoted woman of faith and family, talented designer, and passionate world traveler passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Port Allen, Louisiana. She was 84 years old and had bravely faced a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born April 14, 1941, in Opelousas, Louisiana, Jeanie was the middle of five children to Joseph Evans Robin and Angela Stelly Robin. She was a graduate of Port Barre High School. Jeanie's commitment to lifelong learning led her to earn a degree in Interior Design, attended Louisiana State University, and completed Dale Carnegie professional training. Her innate artistic and creative talent was evident throughout her professional and personal life.

Jeanie was a true global citizen, having traveled to six of the seven continents, only missing Antarctica. Her love for travel was evident in all that she did. Jeanie was a skilled linguist who spoke multiple languages. Ever resourceful, she would always find a way to fund her trips, whether through hard work, savings, or leading tours in the countries she visited. She even famously bungee jumped off a bridge over a gorge in New Zealand in her 60’s, with a local newspaper celebrating her story with the headline “The Flying Granny”.

Jeanie was highly active in her community through various organizations, including Friendship Force, The Red Hat Society of Baton Rouge, The Baton Rouge Gem and Mineral Society, and The United Methodist Church. Through these organizations, she had many memorable adventures and made lifelong friends locally and across the world. Many people called her resilient; she approached her struggle with Alzheimer’s like a warrior, facing death just as she faced life—according to her own wishes. To know her was to love her; she was small in stature, but everything she did in her life was big and meaningful. She was a bright light.

Jeanie cherished her family and friends dearly. She is survived by her loving children: her daughters, Debby Marshall Cazes and Cynthia Norville and her husband, Larry (Texas), and her son, Chris Resweber and his wife, Elizabeth (Ohio). She was a beloved grandmother to Courtney Marshall Johnson and her husband, Joshua Johnson; Jefferey Marshall and his wife, Victoria Marshall; Casey Marshall and his wife, Jessica Marshall; Corey Resweber (Indiana); Meghan Resweber (Ohio); Cole Norville and his wife, Christina (Texas); Austin Norville (Texas); and Cody Norville and his wife Charissa (Texas). Jeanie’s legacy continues through eleven beautiful great-grandchildren: Allyson and Matthew Johnson; Charlotte and Cameron Marshall; and James Allen, Lincoln, Brooks, and Collins Marshall; Sophia, Marianna, and Ruth Norville (Texas). Jeanie is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Shirley Moscovis, Jimmy Robin, Gerald Robin, and Rose Mary Darby.

The family extends its deepest gratitude to her daughter, Debby Cazes, for moving in to provide loving care and support throughout Jeanie's decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s. Debby’s selfless commitment to her mother to care for her in her home will forever be remembered and appreciated. The family also wishes to thank caregiver Wanda Leach and the dedicated and loving care team at Amedisys for their support.
