Mary Nell Woods Lemings

Mary Nell Woods Lemings, age 93, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on June 15, 2024.

She was born in Wichita Falls, TX in 1931 and lived in Lindale, TX until her family moved to Baton Rouge in her senior year. She graduated from Istrouma High. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Willie Lemings, and they worked together until his death as owners of Lemings Car Care. Mary also worked for the Department of Natural Resources for many years. Over the many years she lived in Baton Rouge, she was a member of North Highlands Baptist, Lanier Baptist, Woodlawn Baptist, and Broadmoor Methodist Churches. 

Mary is survived by her daughter, Lisa Lemings Gibbs and her son, William Scott Lemings; her sister Wanda Ritchie; grandchildren, Casey Lemings McAllen (Hunter), Brian Gibbs (Erica), Stephen Gibbs (Jenee), Dustin Lemings, Sarah Gibbs, and Tanner Lemings. She had six great-grandchildren, Cain McAllen, Haze McAllen, Aubrey Gibbs, Sidney Gibbs, Brenna Gibbs and Evan Gibbs. She dearly loved and was loved by her entire family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lemings; her parents, Russell and Bessie Woods; and two sisters, Ruth Ritchie and Belle Malone.

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 1:00 PM until services at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory with fellowship immediately after.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice Carpenter House in Mary Lemings’ name.
