He was preceded in death by his grandfather Bert Knight. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Matthew’s name.

Matthew was a graduate of St. Michael the Archangel High School and attained a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. Through his college years, Matthew was a member and leader of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He was an avid musician and enjoyed playing drums, guitar, piano, and various other percussion instruments. He enjoyed jamming and playing music with friends as often as possible. You could find Matt on any given day in the home that he and Kylie shared sitting in his recliner with their dog Teddy snuggled in his lap and enjoying a good book or podcast. Some of his favorite people called him “Uncle Matt” and loved climbing in his lap to hear his stories. Matt shared a special bond with his brother that consisted of movie quotes and inside jokes. They spoke a language all their own. Matt’s positive attitude never waivered despite all that was thrown at him. He always offered a smile, a handshake, or a hug if needed. He also had a joke or a story if you needed a chuckle. He knew he was much more than this sickness. He was a beam of light for all who knew him.

The family of Matthew Guillot wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the dedicated staff and doctors of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge Rehabilitation Hospital, Dr. Richard A. Stanger, Dr. Mary Raven, Dr. Jon Olson, Dr. Maurice King, and Dr. Amar Gajjar. Special appreciation for the loving care of the SICU nurses of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital for their wonderful care and support.
