Maurice Winker, 86, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on May 7, 2026. He was born in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. He graduated from Saint John’s University in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, leading him to become The Computer Manager at The Louisiana State Teachers’ Retirement System. Maurice entered the Army and retired as a Colonel after 30 years of Active and Reserve service. He was a member of St. George Ushers, Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW), and The American Legion.

Maurice is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sophie Winker; daughter, Mimi Winker; sisters, Sally Theiler and Peggy Gaedke (Steve); brother, Neale Winker (Patti); six grandchildren, Lindsey Dalier (Justin), Chelsea Breaux, Sean Breaux (Alyson), Austin Breaux (Mirjana), Ella Griffith, and Ike Griffith; and three great-grandchildren, Claire and Evan Dalier, and Oliver Breaux.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Leone Winker, and daughters, Natalie Breaux and Nicole Griffith.

Visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at St. George Catholic Church, located at 7808 Saint George Dr. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:30 a.m.
