Maurine Bordelon LaCour, age 88, passed away peacefully at Saint James Place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Maurine was born in Port Arthur, Texas. She graduated from Evergreen High School and became a real estate agent with CJ Brown/Latter and Blum until she retired. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and community service. Maurine dedicated her life to serving others, embodying the spirit of kindness and selflessness. Her unwavering commitment to helping others extended far beyond this, as she engaged in various community services that reflected her generous heart.
Maurine spent her professional career as a realtor in the Baton Rouge area for 25 years, helping families purchase their first or second home. She ranked amongst the top 100 realtors in Baton Rouge numerous times alongside her realtor friends known as the “Krewe of Krowes”. She was a member of the Baton Rouge Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
A passionate advocate for those in need, she founded the Hope Cancer Ministry at Healing Place Church, where she provided support and hope to countless individuals and families facing challenges dealing with cancer. The ministry reaches 10 cancer treatment centers a week, including St. Jude. She led the HCM at St. Jude for their “No More Chemo” days, as well as the running the fundraiser for their Give Thanks walks. Maurine was also committed to her volunteer work, including her work with the Ministry of Cancer Awareness at Mary Bird Perkins, Cooking for Christ preparing meals for the homeless, The Brave Heart, and the Foster Care Program. Maurine coordinated the distribution of Thanksgiving baskets for Mary Bird Perkins and was also an organizer for “Produce Saturdays” for their cancer patients. Within that work, she was awarded for her dedication, receiving awards such as being the recipient of the 2012 Dr. Jensen Holliday Award given by Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Her Hope Cancer Ministry received the Mary Limpsy Award from Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center for outstanding community service. She was nominated for the 2013 Angel Award, given by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation for improving the quality of life for Louisiana’s children. Also in 2013, she was the recipient of the 2013 Power of 9 Honors Award given by Capital Area United Way/Volunteer United for exceptional volunteer efforts and achievements. Maurine was the recipient of the Mary Bird Perkins 2010 award for dedication volunteer service, as well as the recipient of the Healing Place Church 2010 Live the Dream Conference Award for Woman of the Year. She was also the recipient of the Breakfast for Champions Award and the Woman’s Council of Realtor’s Fund Raiser Award.
Maurine is survived by her son, Monty B. LaCour (Amy); special niece, Elaine Michel (Van); sisters, Joyce B. Nelson and Carol B. Cashio (Vic); grandchildren, Nicholas LaCour (fiancé, Meghan), Amanda Rugg (fiancé, Dylan Wax), Tucker LaCour, Tanner LaCour, and Dillon Couvillion; great-grandchildren, Charlie Wax; sister-in-law, Ann Bordelon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Percy M. LaCour; parents, Lannie and Ollie Bordelon; son, Kevin O. LaCour; sister, Mona Jean Gaspard; brother, Philip “Yam” Ray Bordelon; and brother-in-law George Nelson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her nurse, Suzie Boudinot, with Hospice of Baton Rouge, the medical staff at St. James Place, the medical staff at the Baton Rouge General Hospital, and Ms. Lisa Rodney’s staff.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, beginning at 1:30 PM until service at 3:30 PM. Burial will take place at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary, LA, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM.
Maurine will be greatly missed but will remain forever in our hearts and memories.
